When it comes to implementing change I like to keep it as simple as possible so that I have a better chance of sticking to it. This is especially true when it comes to the area of health and diet.
Like a lot of people I made the intention back at the beginning of January to make improvements towards my diet and exercise rituals (notice how I kept the intention fairly loose, can’t be putting too much pressure on myself).
Over the years I’ve realised that when it comes to healthy eating it’s better to focus on adding in goodness rather than trying to take away too much of the bad stuff if I’m going to stick to it. And this is one of the reasons why milled Linseed (or flaxseed as it’s also known) is so great because you are literally just adding it in to food you already eat.
This wonderful fibre crop can be added into cereal, smoothies, juices, soups, baked goods the list is endless. Just a tablespoon or two a day helps you to achieve your daily intake of fibre and omega 3. In fact it is known to be the richest source of omega 3 essential fatty acids (containing twice the amount found in fish oils)!
Some of the benefits include, improved quality of skin, hair and nails, lower cholesterol and blood pressure and increased energy to name a few.
You can buy milled linseed in most supermarkets and health food stores.
What small things have you added into your diet to make it more healthy? I'd love to hear your thoughts...
